I have a 24 volt 350 ma solar panel (rating up to 5 watts). I know that I can use it to maintain the charge in two 12-volt marine batteries that are wired in series (a 24 volt system).
My question: Can I also use the 24 volt 350 ma solar panel to maintain the charge in a single 12 volt marine battery without the use of a controller? What is the downside of using the 24 volt solar panel on a 12 volt battery?
