2005 Satellite Dome

We just purchased another RV this time with a satellite dome. The satellite is a 2005 TracVision R5R4. My question is....will this satellite be useable...is it outdated...can it be used with new HD tv's and newer Dish satellite receivers?

I don't believe that unit will work with today's receivers. It may be possible to update it but it would be nearly as expensive as replacing it with something new (dome or Trav'ler).
Even if it were to work, it will not get the Dish HD programming as the 129 satellite was not in use back them. I could possibly work with DirecTV SD if you can find an older compatible receiver.
You can call KVH with the exact model information and they should be able to tell you what your options are. If you plan to use satellite TV service, my personal opinion would be to replace it and, again personally, I would not replace it with a KVH.

I got rid of my R4 because there is no longer a Direct receiver that has the low speed data port that my dish needed. Is there a Sat receiver in the coach? Is there a 9 pin connector going to it or in that area? A call to TracVision is probably your best bet.
