Winegard Trav'ler

hi, I have the winegard trav'ler model SK-SWM3. It is currently set up with "Direct" TV satellite. This of course is meant for the United States. Being Canadian and travelling to Mexico (where one may receive Canadian broadcast signals) I would like to know if this winegard will be compatible with a "Shaw Direct" dish, and or what components would have to be changed and where they might be available. I have seen the dish part for sale at camping world for about $250 dollars. Thanks very much. Tom ( a service provider here said I would need a whole new system and suggested "Explorer" at a cost of 3200 dollars installed.)

You can convert between DirecTV/Dish and Bell but not Shaw.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

I think this is the site the poster may have been referring to. I see a conversion from one to another but not to Shaw Direct. There is a shaw replacement kit LMB but I don't know what that is.

Really? What kit would that be? Never heard of one to convert from DTV to Shaw.

The antenna base plate attached to the roof, the control cable that runs from the Trav'ler to the controller and any existing coax cables will be reused. Otherwise, everything else needs to be replaced. At least you won't have to unseal any of the roof connections. Just lift the current Trav'ler off the base, put the new one in its place. Attach the base ring that came with the Shaw unit to the DTV unit you remove and list the antenna for sale. You should be able to get $500-$800 USD for the DTV version.

Thanks so much for your answers. If I understand, the entire system must be replaced, dish, mounting rotating device, and everything else inside? Nothing in the system I have is compatible for Shaw direct.

No, it is not compatible with Shaw. You would need a completely new mount.
