My wife and I are thinking about buying a NEW 2016 Cruiser RV Radiance T28BHIK at a great price. This would be a first travel trailer for me and the wife. I have towed boats and equipment trailers, but never a travel trailer. It looks that the numbers all fit. This will be mostly towed in the South East, flat lands. Would start out with close trips and work our way up. I am just looking for real world experience as to whether this is a good idea or not. We will be using a WDH with sway control. In the future if we both like it camping, up-grading to a bigger truck is an option.

Travel trailer:
2016 Cruiser RV Radiance T28BHIK:
Dry Hitch Weight: 680 lb.
Unloaded Vehicle Weight: 6,235 lb.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR): 9,480 lb.
Cargo Carrying Capacity: 3,245 lb.
Exterior Length: 31 ft.
Exterior Height: 11ft.

Tow Vehicle:
2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab 4X4
5.3l, 6 spd max tow
GCWR: 15000 lb.
Max Trailer Weight: 9600 lb.
****Payload Capacity: 1659 lb.
GAWR Frt: 3950 lb.
GAWR RR 3950 lb.
****Plan on upgrading to โ€œEโ€ range tires and maybe airbags if needed****
THANKS!

If you check my profile you'll see that I have a similar truck and a smaller trailer. My truck is lighter because it is a reg. cab and only 2 wheel drive. I also have air bags which was needed when I had a Truck Camper. I have no WDH an no anti-sway mechanism. I to have boats and equipment trailers, and there are few similarities. Pulling a TT with it's large wall areas change the pull.

With all that said, my experience towing is just ok! I get some sway when passed be trucks or buses. Power is just ok but I have not gone up & down any eastern mountains (I know you guys west of the Miss. say there are no mountains here in the east). 'E' tires will be a must, 'P' sidewalls are just to soft, I also up graded shocks. I get 11 to 12 mpg.

IMO try it with short trips before you spend money on your current TV, but you will want a larger TV.
