Dodge 3500 Diesel Tranny

I towed with a Ford F250 7.3 Diesel and the tranny went bad. While it was being rebuilt, I bought a Dodge Ram 3500 2002 to getaround in. For some reason it takes a while, 15sec., for it to go into DRIVE from PARK. Does this truck need a tranny too? Any ideas?

My dodge did this from the beginning so I had it fixed. Return line from the radiator to the trannie had a check valve problem so it was draining. what a difference the repair made.

If it does it when cold but not when hot it has a thermostat that keeps it in low gears to warm up.

I have a 2002 F250 7.3L Diesel with 250,000 miles and the original transmission and torque converter. My trailer weighs just about 10,000lbs. It is still going strong but I do change trans fluids and filter every other year. Costs a little over $100 but seems to be paying off. 🙂

I had my tranny rebuilt on my Ford F250 7.3 Diesel at about 80k. From what I understand 40k is normal with a lot of towing.

90% of the older dodge do this. what it is the torque converter is draining back.I have two dodge trucks that do that. what i do put in N for a sec then to drive.the tran pump does not pump fluild in park.
