Hello All,
Last year we went on a camping trip to Newport, RI. There are several things to see there, eat and enjoy. One of the thing we did was to take a harbor cruise, here is the video I took and uploaded
Newport, RI harbor cruise
In addition to that you can take tour of mansions, awesome loop around scenic water view and there is a state park (small) with overlook of water, you can park there for whole day and enjoy the view.

Well thank you for adding to my " What to do with kiddos in New England" list.
I've visited Newport but never took a harbour tour. Good chance I'll add it to this year's day trip although I have to say I hope the tour guide will talk of the history more and less of the real estate value; bit too much of a busman's holiday for me on that level, LOL.
Last year we visited Goddard State Park which isn't that faraway from Newport and had a fine day. Sand beach with attentive lifeguards and a roped off swimming area, 9 hole golf course (didn't use it but there is still time to revisit), bridle trails with ponies and horses for rent, well maintained walking trails, grills and exceptionally clean public bathrooms through out. Plus an art center and historic carousel. After the park we drove a bit further away and ate dinner at a lobster shack w/i an active marina/ commercial fishing port...think it was called Abbott's in Noank.
We'll be returning there this summer.
