alternator charging my t-1275

a bit of background I Drive a 2013 Touareg TDI with a 170 amp generator and and AGM battery for the car. as we know AGM batteries require no more than 14.4 volts or charging and they charge at a very high current rate.

I've been on the road since 2 days ago and will have completed 1050 miles and to overnight Walmart sessions. after two days on the road I've discovered that my prodigy RF brake control unit must be unplug in the morning when I start the motor up otherwise I will get no charging from the alternator to the battery on my travel trailer. as soon as I shut the motor off from my first start of the morning say for example to refuel that stops the prodigy RF or perhaps it's vw programming but my battery no longer charges on the travel trailer. last night when I shut down near Idaho Falls after driving from Los Angeles I checked the voltage on like T 1275 and after 4 hours of charging Salt Lake City tired hope alls I had 12.54 volts sitting on my trojan T 1275.

I am used to seeing 12.65 volts sometimes 12.68 bolts when I charge to 15.0 volts on my mega watt 30 amp power supply unit. and equalize session with my old Sears 6am charger that goes to 16.0 volts equalizing will bring me to a full 12.73 volts.

my point is this with a charge controllerset at a maximum of 14.4 volts you are already down. 10 2.15 volts from the get go that you've just given away never to be used because your battery never gets fully topped off. this is very important if you DroidCam a lot.

Don't rely on your alternator or your charge controller to get you fully charged up you are throwing away 20% of your useful battery capacity by using your alternator or your charge controller. they just don't do the job 100%.
