Un Modifying (fuel pump related) Onan 4 Emerald BGE UPDATE

Just bought a 1995 Winnebago Brave 27ft, the onan generator runs, but someone bypassed the original fuel pump and install some after market one, and hooked up a 12v switch to turn the pump on, it works, but I really don't want to go outside an turn this switch on every time I want to turn on the gen.

I went ahead and bought an OEM fuel pump, the only thing that is stumping me right now, is this wire coming from the generator, it looks like it was the wire going to the original fuel pump. But the problem is, when I put a volt meter on it, it is showing that it is a ground, the writing on the wire is KA 47 E2+.

I do not want to just hook it up to the fuel pump without know for sure this is the wire, it is the only "loose" OEM wire around, you can see it in the Pics

Does anybody know if this is the right wire for the OEM fuel pump?

Here is the rigged on and off switch for the aftermarket fuel pump

Alright I am ready, flame suit on, while still "troubleshooting" the gen set, I was testing the K4 relay, I followed the black wire all the way to the starter solenoid, and the friggin light turned on, well stupid you should have 12v here when battery is hooked up, well staring me right in the face was this rubber thing, wow its got a cap, hmmm whats under the cap??

A FRIGGIN FUSE, opened it up no fuse inside it, boy do I feel like a friggin douche, but it happens, I was so happy to get this RV I simply when do the biggest problems without looking for the simplest.

Although I wish somewhere in the manual for us dummies, besides the schematics, it would mention this fuse.

so anyways, had to go get a fuse because its a micro fuse, hooked up everything, and everything is working fine.

I do have to wonder what the prior owner was thinking when he installed the external FP, maybe he was like me:crazy:

Thanks everyone for their guidance, and it did not go to waste, I learned a lot by doing all the "extra" trouble shooting.

Here is the gen set, all hooked up, on the garage floor, tomorrow it will go into the RV

Ok great, I did get to test the K4 wire (fuel pump) and there is no voltage when cranking or running

I think if you goto Onan or Byrant RV you can download the service manual and schematics

we do have an Onan expert who is a member and very helpful..
maybe he will see your post

did you run the generator and then measure the voltage with the Onan running
the pump will be controlled by the control board and there will be NO voltage unless it is running

could be there was a control board failure, and the MOD was done to avoid buying a new control board

Thanks for the reply, I havent measured the voltage from the K4 wire yet, but you confirm what i was thinking as well

Thanks for confirming for me that the FP is controlled by the control board

Wont be able to work on this until this weekend
