DH and I are looking at a 1973 Holiday Rambler. DH looked at the outside today and it's in really good shape. We plan to look at the inside on Saturday. "Everything works as it should". (I will check this out very carefully). The price is right.

I'm having trouble finding information about Holiday Ramblers of this era. Is there anything in particular I need to be aware of? Can anyone tell me where online to look for details?

thanks
Martha

Its a good thing you are not closer to me because i would probably try to buy it if you wanted to sell. I to grew camping in older Holiday a 1971 24ft vacationer and would like to get another one one day but they are not any around in south ga. Its a nice looking Rambler . Hope to see some interior pictures.

Don't sell it just yet, keep her, get to know her, then decide.
More pictures, please!

Now my next question... I have had a guy knock on my door and offer to buy it but I'm not even sure where to value it if I wanted too. Apparently his parents had one just like it when he was growing up. It has a couple minor things needed done to like a reseal on the roof and the LP lines updated for the propane tanks. What would be a fair starting price??? By the way I only had about 1.5 miles to tow it so I just pulled off each tire and ran it to the gas station and filled it with air. It pulled like a dream. I even have the original hub caps!!!

I didn't try to view it. I'm just glad that everyone can now access it if they want to. I'm truly surprised at how many people have emailed me asking for a copy

Good Evening,

Yes, everyone can access it there. Did you have any issues viewing the document?

Good Evening,

I have compiled and uploaded the manual that weedlady so graciously emailed to me. You should be able to view it at http://www.scribd.com/doc/160833789/The-Holiday-Manual

Let me know if you have any issues.

Sincerely,

Walter "Wally" Padgett

Etrailer sells 4 lug Dexstars but they are expensive, IMO.
FWIW, I got a quote on new Carlisle Trail RH ST215/ 75R-15 tires, today. $79/pc at Discount Tire. Upgrading to an LT tire is an additional $40-$50/pc.
Good luck with your new HR!

We got lucky and found Dexter wheels on Craigslist-bought one for a spare. When I got new tires, I took in 2 wheels at a time-jacked up one side of the trailer, pulled the wheels, got new tires, took the other two wheels in the next day. It wasn't as inconvenient as it sounds.

(I will get that manual sent to you shortly by the way-just need to find a few extra minutes in my too short days.)

David, if it's a Holiday Rambler, it would likely have the Dexter (DexStar) wheels that are 4-bolt and look like THIS.
They made them in several widths in 13,14 and 15" diameters.

There are no automotive or other bolt-on alternatives for these.
You might be able to pick up spares at an RV dealer but they are pricey.
The best bet is to just pull the wheels and carry them to the tire store.
Also, rather than taking a chance, you should pull the drums, check the brakes and repack the bearings before getting on the road with it.
Ricky

P.S. We like pictures! Send Pictures!

A 1973 Holiday Rambler (I think) was given to me today for free!!! The owner is selling the house and just wanted it gone. (signed title in my hand!!) The down side is the tires are all toast. Rather than pull each rim off and have a tire mounted and then put it back on does anyone know if a certain vehicle has a matching bolt pattern that i could just throw new rims and tires on it??? Any other help would be awesome. If someone still has the owners manual handy I would love a copy too!!! Thanks for the info in advanced!!
