Adjusting height on Dexter Torflex Axles

Re: 93 Coachmen TT.

Seems the trailer is too low as the holding tank connections are only a few inches off the ground.

Is there a way to adjust the height on these axles?

Thanks!!

Lets make your question as simple as it sounds. do you have the additional wheel well space to install taller tires. Possibly 16" wheels with an 80 series tire. Tall and narrow.

Most non adjustable rubber torsion axles will come at about a 22 degree downward angle. Lift the trailer up and see what the angle of the arms are. Compare that to the "loaded" angle. If they are level, either the rubber is old or they were set at a bad angle from the factory. The torsion arm should travel upward with a load and max out at about level which gives it the maximum leverage. They can work starting at level, but that isn't the best situation since the leverage decreases with the increase in the load.

As stated above, the rubber could be wore out. Remember, 25 years is about as much as you can expect out of them.

Thanks to all for the input! Just fyi The only thing in the trailer is what came as standard equipment. I see no modifications. Not sure if the tt is worth any great money infusion to correct what I think is a problem.
Thanks again!

Some non-Dexter torsion axles are splined and can be re-clocked

Keep in mind the rubber can break down with time. Its possible you mat be due to new axles anyways.

Late model Jayco Hybrids have these axles. They offer a 2" lift kit option but it can't be installed on all frames. Do a Google search, some folks have fabricated add-on brackets to make their own lift kits.

Flexiride is the only rubber torsion axle with the adjustable torsion arms, that I know of. They have a splined shaft that allows you to change the arm angle simply by removing one large bolt, and replacing it when you have the arm realigned.

One way to raise the camper higher is to lighten the load. Have you weighed you unit to see if you're over gross?

Simply, no. The axles would have to be removed from the frame, and install a different set with the proper drop or lift. If you already have the set with the lift, you would have to remove the axles from the frame and have a spacer welded on the frame ant the axles re-installed.
