Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012

My daughter was getting a little warm in her bunk during our last camping trip, so I decided to put her a fan in to keep the air flowing.

I had been wanting to add a 12-volt fan to the main living area anyway, so I decided to tackle both jobs today. A trip to Wal-Mart for two fans($8.48 each) and we're halfway there.

She picked the spot, and I got to work -

I picked up the power from her overhead light. All I have left is to install a short piece of wire cover and I'm done -

I added one in the main area -

I dropped by Lowe's and found this cool soap dispenser. I also just installed these Pop-a-Toothbrush holders -

I added a sopa dispenser to the kitchen area as well. I also installed a Pop-a-Napkin under the radio -

Here's an easy mod. I found this over the door towel rack at Walmart and it works great -

He used screen door springs...so over a period of time they may rust but could be easily replaced. Also, he put them on both ends and has double gutter that extends to about 7 feet so he can lay it under the sewer line and not have to use collapsible holders.

Well, DH loved the mods for the sewer hose carrier and decided to build one for our new TT. He took the basics from what he saw on this site and mixed it up just a bit. I hope the link works; I tried posting pics before and they loaded across the page instead of from top to bottom (thanks Mr. Moderator for fixing that for me!). The key changes he made were to add a vent midway through the post and attached the end caps with rivets and a spring so you can just pull it down and under the post without it actually coming off or dangling by a cord.

The spring Idea is pretty cool....will it rust?

Bucky - we took it to a spring shop to have them do it. I have heard it's not too bad you buy the dexter kit and then it takes some welding from what I've heard. We didn't have the capability to get the axles off the ground or a welder. Most dealers will do it for a few hundred bucks. For the size of our trailer we thought it would be easier to have someone else do it.

It's a good thing we did it though we had an equalizer that the bushings were shot in and had to be replaced.

Kim

Thanks. I may look into it this winter.

sunline1 - The trailer already had the shelf, we used the stand that came with the TV. We adjusted the stand and placed a square piece of plastic under it until we could see it in bed and then we screwed it down. The TV has never moved and we travel with it like that. We have velcro all over the trailer - all our remotes are velcro'd to the wall so we don't lose them.

Bonals Family - I am pretty sure we got the towel holder at Wally World - it's an over the door towel hold so we just screwed it to the door.

AHA! Screw it to the door!!!! I love that! We have five of us so there always towels hanging from cupboards, I hate that. And the curtain idea is brilliant and is my next mod, so we can have more elbow room while getting dressed.

Kim,

Like the pics as well as the mods. like the soap dispenser/tooth brush holder with the Velcro idea. how about the bedroom TV, looks to me like you built a shelf to hold the TV, but what else holds the TV in place ? Can you travel with it in place? Please explain. Thanks Sunline1

Curtain Mod - our bathroom is rather small so we put in this curtain to seperate the front bed from the rest and give us some place to chang clothes.

Flashlight Holder

Magazine Rack

Kitchen Before

After with Spoon Rack

After with Wine Glass Holder

Above the cabinets we have a big wasted area so my husband put a lip on the edge of the cabinet and now it holds my pots and pans.

Bedroom TV

Bathroom Sign - my husband being funny!

Soap Dispenser and Tooth Brush Holder - held down with velcro!

Over the Door Towel Holder

Garbage Mod - we have two large labs who are constantly getting into the garbage so my husband came up with this to hide it under the sink. Since we moved the pots and pans we had plenty of room.

That's all for now - I'm sure I will have more in the next week or so.
