I have a Fleetwood Rio that I picked up about 5 years ago from an elderly couple that were no longer using it. It had some issues so I got it for $100. Pluses - Frame great, canvas great, working A/C, good tires/brakes, passed inspection.
Cons - water didn't work, furnace operation inconsistent, front box leaked and was semi rotted.
I took the whole box apart, used a piece of finished Oak plywood for the front wall and rebuilt the box. Got some flexible epoxy to repair the plastic cracks on the storage box and we've been using it every since.
Starting about 3 years ago, the cracks on the roof started getting worse. I've been patching with Eternabond 5" tape but in some places now, the plastics are just cracking beyond repair.
Since the shell underneath is fiberglass, has anyone simply tore off the covering material completely and just painted the top? no leaks so I know that the core is solid. We only camp once or twice/year so I don't want to make any large investments in it like trying to find another shell. Since the canvas and all the cushions are in perfect condition, I'd hate to junk it.
Ideas?
Thanks!
