Rockwood Mini Lite 2109

Hello - We have a Rockwood Mini Lite 2109 travel trailer. On our last camping trip last fall, our slide would not close... the motor turns/runs, but nothing happens, i.e. the slide would not go in, or out, the motor just ran...

We tried manually cranking the slide closed with the handle, but again the handle would turn, but doesn't appear to grab onto anything?

We finally just pushed the slide back in by hand and strapped it closed.

Any ideas on what could be the problem, or where to look, would be greatly appreciated!

Actually, I had posted this for a older retired couple we camp with, in his words, as he is not that up on forums in general.

So, I asked him what kind of a slide system/mechanism he has and he said that he believes they have a rack and pinion system. He is convinced that there must be a "pin" missing somewhere; however, he doesn't know where to look...

More info would be helpful.

What type of slide mechanism?

If it's a rack & pinion type it sounds like the gear on the motor or rack might be stripped, or a shear pin sheared.

If its hydraulic maybe just low on fluid?
