Newbie here...
Looked at a used (2010) trailer today. While the rest of the trailer interior and exterior shows zero signs of leaks, rot, dampness or delamination, the slide out concerns me. It's a large slide out, and it goes out over 3ft. If I push on the short front and back exterior walls, there is some give. I'm not sure how to describe it. It feels like a tiny empty space. Yet once you push a little it feels solid. Not like you're pushing against something rotting. The panels aren't bulging or bubbling. It seems like it was built this way. The slide out holds a couch and dinette. I could get my hand down the wall next to the couch, (but couldn't see much.) Nothing felt soft, damp, or smelled. I couldn't get my hand between the dinette bench and the other wall. No wet or rotting smells inside or out. The side (long wall) of the slide out doesn't feel this way.
What gives? Are they built this way, or is something going on in the slideout?
