Tongue Mounted Storage

My DW and I have bought a new rear kitchen trailer, and the cargo storage space is at a premium. I am thinking about mounting a box to the tongue behind the propane tanks. It needs to be about 12" deep with hinged door on top. Any suggestions on which box works? Thoughts on aluminum versus plastic?

Take a look at this one by TORKLIFT

Instead of a hinged lid, it has a sliding lid & is locking.

You might want to check out TORKLIFT POWER ARMOR boxes they have sliding lids to give extra clearance allowing you to put them closer to trailer. Just another idea.

On my TT I moved the propane bottles as far forward as possible , even cutting a hole in the propane cover at the front jack . Gained five inches . To max out the storage I made a 3/8 plywood box almost full width and 30 inches deep. Gull wing lids . Stores 4 six volt batteries , blocks , cords ,tools .
I liked it so much I am gonna make one for the rear . Painted it to match the trim .

Difficult for us to make recommendations. We don't know how much room you have to work with. IE: between tanks and trailer box
