TT Lengths

My wife and I are considering a new TT and I have a question regarding the lengths I’m seeing advertised. Is the advertised length the living quarters length or the overall length?

We rented a trailer in upper Michigan a couple weeks ago that didn’t turn out too well but we going to give it a couple more outings to confirm this is what we’d like to do.

We currently own a 2017 F150 CC with 5.0L V8 that has 2009lbs payload capacity. Looking for a trailer in the 22-25’ length and gross loaded weight of around 7K lbs. Like the Grand Design Imagine series as from my research, they have a better rating than most but I understand there will be issues with any trailer.

In many cases the model number comes close to the interior length, but not always, and I'd not count on it. Most manufacturers list the OAL in their brochures, which is not the model number, but is pretty accurate, hitch to bumper.

All that I have seen are Hitch to bumper. So when it says 35' that is hitch to bumper and you need to dig into the specs to find living space dimensions if it's mentioned at all. Maybe some are different but that has been my experience with anything we have ever looked at

Hmmm not disputing but on our 4th trailer and all model numbers indicated interior dimension, not overall length.

Define "advertised length".

If you are looking at the specs for a given model, the specs for overall length should be correct, or very close.

This is very rare to be the case. One manufacturer may consider the number in the model name the interior length, another may consider it the outside length of the "box", another may just pull a number out of a hat and call it good.

If you are trying to gauge the length based on the number in the model name, all bets are off.

One perfect example of this is three models made by Arctic Fox:

25Y
25W

The R is the shortest of the three.

The overall length is coupling to bumper.
The model length is interior.

Example:
Our trailer is a 252urs with 25ft of interior living space but the the overall length of trailer is 29' 1/2 feet.

Usually box length. Add four feet for total length. Buy the trailer with your favorite floor plan. With a good pre-purchase inspection and running every system before any money changes hands you’ll be fine.
