houston to ventura, ca

Looking for best routes and must sees! Hopefully heading out next week in 28ft class c with jeep tow, 2 adults and 1 faithful puppy. Up to 4 weeks allows for travel to and from tx to CA. Only need a few days in Ventura to take care of some business.. All input appreciated.

I vastly prefer US-90 from San Antonio to Van Horn over taking I-10.

It is only a few miles farther. Has some great stops like Seminole Canyon SP, Judge Roy Bean Museum in Langtry, Marathon, Alpine, Marfa. Only a short (Texas definition of short) bit off the route to Big Bend National Park and/or Davis Mountains SP and the MacDonald Observatory and Fort Davis National Monument.

If you've never been Garner SP north of Uvalde is a great first stop on the trip.

Getting past El Paso. I've stayed at the Fort Bliss RV Park, but other than that, I do not like to stop for the night between Van Horn and Las Cruces.
