Lake Tahoe to Petaluma, CA

Just starting to piece together another trip and was wondering what is the easiest way to go from Lake Tahoe (Zephyr Cove area) to Petaluma, Calif and would like to stay away from Sacramento if possible.
We will be traveling in a 33' MH towing.

That would take you way out of your way. US50 to 80 to 37 would be your best bet. Done that many times with 36 ft. toy hauler.

Nearly impossible to get to Petaluma without going through Sacramento. The easiest way is to take I-80. I-50 over Echo summit is kinda scary and two lanes with sharp drop off.
