A new well equipped and easy to get to campground has opened in Oaxaca. It's past KM 17 on highway190, nearThule.
It's quite close to the highway. It has full hookups , is friendly to big rigs and pets. The surroundings are exceptional and the owners are Americans.

Those of you still using Church and Bell need to get with the times. While the Church book has great little maps and sight seeing info, I Overland is the cutting edge. This new campground is already listed. I mentioned this to Fausto when we stopped in Hermosillo. He or I need to get his place posted. The Overland Oasis in Oaxaca had 65 straight nights of occupancy in their first year due to sites like this.

And if we finally do, (we have missed them by a day or two through the years) we will do the same!

I asked on their Facebook page on Sept. 5:

Jefferson Campervan "Is there a new edition of the Mexico book in the works?"

Reply September 5 at 4:33pm Rolling Homes Press:

"At this point no but we will be traveling around the entire country this coming winter. We'll assess the demand during our travels."

We have bought every version of that book. I am sure they did not get rich on book sales! The Mexico book probably didn't cover their expenses. Seems it will no longer be published. There are not many new RV travelers in Mexico and book sales must have dropped to near nothing. I, and many others, owe them a lot!

I am good friends with them. My feeling is they will be doing another. They do not get rich off them

It's great that people post things like this rather than having to rely on someone selling books to get the information. Thanks

We have also bought the Bell's Road Logs and still use them - we have years worth of notes written all over the pages of the guides .

Everything they have to offer is valuable and worth every penny. They worked hard and earned what they charge and more - much more.

How many spaces? Wondering if we would need a reservation if we just pulled in sometime in mid-January...................

The original post provided a link to the website where you can find a way to either call them or email them. Here is the website and email....

I completely agree with Moisheh - the Church book is a valuable and necessary tool for those who want to travel in Mexico. This forum could never duplicate what they have done. There are well over 400 RV parks / campgrounds in Mexico and the Church book tells us where they are and what they are like. And then their website has tried to have useful updates to keep us informed after the book was out there. We bought every new edition over the years and still refer to it on a daily basis when in Mexico. I think people quit buying the books because they bought one edition and thought they didn't need another. But each new release had more and more to learn. We bought them all. I wish they were still putting them out every couple years but with not enough people buying them there is just not enough money in it. We would gladly buy another if they ever get around to doing one again - which I seriously doubt is going to happen.

I found out about it from a friend that had Googled for campgrounds in Oaxaca.

Best thing to do is send the info to the Churches so it gets incorporated in a new book, if they do one. I do have a huge database of RV parks as a GPS file, but Mike & Teri are personal friends, so I am not going to undercut their book sales by releasing it. I do post individual ones I find out about, here. If they decide not to do another, then that is another matter. I previously asked their OKk to release it and they said they prefered I didn't.

I sent this and other info to the Churches as I do whenever anyone posts anything new. I also have a saved file with extensive info compiled over the years of which much came from the Churches as well as the Bells so I do not release mine publicly either. Tequila - I have shared things in the past with you Paul. Just wondering how the folks who posted about Oaxaca came by the info in the first place and how they knew to go there. I also have met the Churches and hung out with them a bit but the last I heard from them is there won't be another Mexico book - though they may do other books. Sending the info to them may get it posted on their updates page online.
