Gotta make a fast run from Patzcuaro to Albuquerque and back next week in my truck to pick up a camper. Looks like a long ways. Any advise about route, hotels and restaurants appreciated. Driven around the periphery of Mexico many times, but never the center. Looking forward to the trip. Thanks. John

There will be great advice as to which roads to take, but as to hotels, when we came back down this year without the moho we stayed in the "by the hour" hotels. Talk about deluxe and inexpensive!!! They are on the outskirts of most towns, have secure, private parking and are fabulous. I did look at one in Escuinapa that was totally disgusting, but we could tell from the outside it was a dump. The others were wonderful and entertaining with room service, liquor and ice service and all too cheap for words. I think the really nice one in Navajoa cost us 200p for 15 hours. Pets??? They probably take sheep, so didn't even comment on our two large dogs. We will be doing more hotel/motel traveling soon and that is where we will stay.

Safe travels!
