SB 77 vs I 75?

Headed to Savanna Ga and then Titusville FL. Google maps always recomends taking 77 south. I have always went down 75. What are the differences? I will be towing a car hauler behind my Class A gasser so the less mountain climbs and bad waether risks the better.

gasguzler, It has been a few years since we stayed at Seasons but it seemed like a nice campground. We had a 5er so we didn't get to park on the premo pads they put the MoHo's on but ours was cheaper then they were. Ours was gravel where the ones for most of the Mo-Ho's were big concrete double width so you parked and had patio and a double wide in front for the toad. Was nice as it was just a hop to Kennedy Space Center and to Coco Beach and Ron Jon's Surf Shop. The restaurant on the corner of the main road and the road that goes to Seasons was pretty good as we were there a bit. Enjoy your trip and have a safe and Merry Christmas.

LOL, we are staying at Seasons in the Sun too. Next to KOA, where we stayed before but wanted to try that this time. How did you like it?

Gas Guzzler, Take 75 south to Findlay and 68/15 to 23 towards Columbus. We go down through Chilicothe then across to Charleston and pick up 77. If you get tired around the W. VA/VA state line, where 77 and 81 merge behind is a nice campground called Fort Chiswell. We have been there about 4 or 5 times. They have a nice area to play with your dogs if you travel animals. If in going to Titusville, we stayed a month at Seasons in the Sun in Mims which is about 5 miles north of Titusville. Be Safe in your travels and Happy Camping.
Can't be too bad cuz I pull our 5er with a Dodge Hemi.

I think the biggest difference you will find travelling in winter is the amount of snow and ice. West Virginia tends to have more snow than the stretch in Kentucky. Also the grades tend to be a little more steep in WV. Prettier drive though.

I've traveled both, but only as far north as West Virginia/Kentucky. There are areas of I-77 where the grades/turns are a bit more than I-75 (such as the stretch between Charleston and Beckley) (where it runs concurrent with I-64) and it's also a toll road (blech), but I find it to be a more pleasurable drive. As noted above, less truck traffic and in my opinion WAY more scenic. If it's just a straight shot you're looking for, I-75 might be better.

I can't recall a difference in weather, although I was traveling I-77 once where, no kidding, I-81 at the intersection of I-77 (near Fort Chiswell) was closed due to flooding caused by torrential downpours! Not a fun drive.

We made that trip in July this year. Biggest plus for us going 77 was less truck traffic. The con was less fuel station so we had to change our fuel cycles.

We've travel both highways and both are about the same amount of up and down hills and mountains. Weather can be bad on both, with 77 we've hit snow in WV and VA. You also have section of toll road in WV.
