Shaw Direct

Have been hearing for 2 years now that Shaw won't be available in US and Mx. anymore. Last year used it with no problems in Mx. Recently I just called them to see what they had to say and when I asked if service would be available in Mx. the person would not answer yes or no. When pressed I still couldn't get an answer. What is happening down in Mx presently, is it still working, does anyone know what is going on with Shaw? Thanks

We have been using the New LNB as well as the Old LNB for the past couple of Weeks in The South Western States. Both systems are working well as are those other Canucks that We have been talking to!

Yes the New Receiver/LNB is a bit harder to set up ,if You are used to the Old System. It gets easier each time that You do it!

We are presently in Mazatlan with a 75e shaw dish with the new XKu LNB. We did re-activate and get it set up connected to the house and motorhome in BC
We also are getting most of the HD channels, down to at least 263, with an 85 % signal as indicated on the 630 PVR. All is good and the Winegard auto dish worked perfectly all through the USA including San Antonio Texas.

Same here in LaPenita, although anyone with the new LNB setup are finding it much more difficult to tune in the signal, even with the 75E dish.

My understanding is that even the new LNB's will work, you just won't get the third satellite which carries a lot of HD channels. (or so I have been told by a local Sat TV installer.) I had my old LNB broken in heavy winds in New Mexico last spring and had to have it replaced. Leaving for southern climates next week and will advise how/if the new one works.

Before You leave make sure that the New LNB is working with the Receiver that You will be using down South!

Set it up in Canada ,have Shaw Configure it correctly ,use it for a couple of Days to be sure it is working correctly.

Then and only then pack the LNB and Receiver into Your vehicle or Suitcase!

In short do not wait until You are down South before activating and testing !

There is a satellite tech here that actually sells shaw direct receivers and dishes, and you can pay your monthly bill to his company as well. He is a reputable company. He SAYS he is an authorized dealer for shaw direct. hmmmmm I have no idea how this works, but it appears that it does work indeed.

What I understand is that if you have the older Shaw/Star Choice receivers, it will work. If you are using the newer stuff that connects to their 3rd satellite, it wont. The reason the tech person wouldnt commit to anything is that it is illegal to receive signals while out of Canada, just as it was years ago when a lot of Canadians were using US based satellite.
