When it gets to where you need that escort it is time to leave! Fortunately that need does not exist. Sure beats going to Europe!!!!

Mar Rosa is so accommodating.

We came down EARLY, before they are normally open, and let them know we were coming. They prepared one site for us, had the electricity redone, water, everything, just for our one site. Yes, they cost more, about the price of a second rate park in the US, not on the beach!

We'll stop there for a couple of nights on our way north.

We showed up at El Banito near Valles on Thursday to find a Quebec caravan of 20-25 who had been here for days. Left here for Pachuca. Some how there need to get US/w. Canada caravans started again to increase the interest in wintering in Mexico. The caravan had Federale escorts from the border(Mission TX) here and I think on to Pachuca. The folks were made very aware that security was very important.

Thanks for clearing that up. Many of us in Mazatlan for 10 years plus have spent most of those years at Mar Rosa. The "maybe a week" sent just about everyone over the years to other parks representing more confidence in securing a pad for up-coming years. That, and the price differential of almost double anywhere else. Yes, I think we all miss the park and the beach front. There really was nothing anywhere that could compare.IMHO.

Here's the deal on Mar Rosa. They pay a fee to have the "right to" the area to the waterline, and always have. If the business is closed, they lose the right to pay for that strip. That strip of land is very valuable when it comes to selling the property. Consequently, the decision was made by the two owners, in May, 2014, that they were much better off staying open until the property was sold.

The way things go, it could be years. It could also be a week.

We are serious beach people, living on one, 4 months a year here, 8 months a year in California. Mar Rosa is where we choose to stay when we are in Mazatlan. It also has quality services and very helpful, knowledgeable staff.

Mar Rosa is open with about 17 rv's. Lots of room, even front row.
Seems there was some confusion about them closing reported. I heard they chose to stay open as it had something to do with loosing fore shore if closed? no idea, but it is open and looks to be for the rest of the season.

What about Stone Island? have heard nothing from that direction.

Fernando is basically full. Cerrito's may have a couple of spots however over - nighters stay in the park alongside the back of the strip mall and seem to be welcomed. (RV's travelling further)

Think Mar villas has some open sites, and certainly Jas Hibbas sp?

Interesting, the minister of Sinaloa tourism touted 6 new hotels for Mazatlan and hopefully more flights and colder weather for the northland. Nothing about fixing the roads or RV's.

We wondered why Mar Rosa was empty when we were down there in Oct/Nov and were told that the owner had passed. To bad, that was a nice park although a little tight getting into.
