Tire Puncture

Last March we had a right rear outer duel tire go flat. At a tire shop they found a small hole about the size of a large nail but there was no nail, just the hole. A couple of days later I talked to an other RVer and he had the same small hole in a right outer duel (no nail). Has anyone had the same experience? Now before we pull out of a Pemex or other parking space we back up a bit and check to be sure that there is nothing under the right rear outer duel tire.

It is very easy to run over something and have it puncture but not stay in. We once had a large piece of sharp edged gravel take out a tire. We have a TPMS so we knew immediately when the tire lost air and were able to stop and look back to find the culprit - this was in a gravel parking lot. A nail in a board could do it easily. A sharp piece of metal sticking out of the ground could do it. Lots of possibilities. Nothing to stop a bad guy who really wants to from putting something both in front of and behind any given tire. TPMS is the best investment in tires you can make - less than the cost of one tire to protect them all.

no,have not had that happen, nor has any rv'er expressed same that I have travelled with. I understand the coincidence; of the same tire out of sight perhaps of the operator when stopped at a service station and somehow something is placed under the tire.Something to think about just about anywhere.

This is why I carry a plug kit in my vehicles. And, yes, it is possible to pick up a nail that punctures the tire and then be thrown off.

I would suggest looking in front of ALL tires before taking off. Though, that won't help for any nails that may be in your path as you travel across the country.
