Thanks

your interest should dictate which way you go. you could go a different way for years and not see everything in these 4 states

Personally, I would take 395 to Reno I-80 then west to I-5 , go north to Hwy. 20 out of Clear Lake , go east to Hwy.101. Now you have a beautiful coastal route all the way to Oregon and Washington. Hwy. 395 at Willamite Or. has an over pass with a 12' 10" clearance. Check to be sure. You can also continue up I-5 to Hwy. 299 out of Redding over to the Calif. coast.
At Eureka, go to the Samoa Cook House for a fantastic beakfast or dinner. Old logging restaurant originally for lumber jacks. If you are traveling in the summer or spring be sure and make your reservations early along the Oregon coast. Lots of Rvers.

So many alternative routes. Every time I started to indicate one, others came to mine. So I will be general. Coast is great & so is the Eastern Cascades. Routes between the 2 can still get some snow in the spring.

I would start out north 395 to Susanville. From there you can begin your loop.
