Cades Cove Campground in a 40ft 5th Wheel?

Hi All! I have a site booked at Cades Cove Smoky Mountain National Park across from the camp store (section A) that says it can handle a 40ft RV but only a 35ft trailer. My 5th wheel is 40ft.

Anyone camp at Cades Cove generator area in a 40ft-ish 5th wheel and can offer opinions?

How about the drive in and out (also was concerned that I cannot find clearance info on the Tunnel from Townsend)?

Thanks so much!

Can't advise on the length issue. Others are correct about walking, as the traffic on the loop road is horrendous...unless..you stay in the campground on a Tues and Wed night. Wednesdays for the summer they shut down the road, and it becomes walk/bike only. THAT is the best way. The ride isn't all that long, and the hills are pretty manageable even for occasional bike riders. Lots of stops to take breaks, see the historic sites. And the views are so much better at a slower pace.

I always call directly to the campground when I have concerns about the site. Many times you’ll get someone who is an RVer and they will look at the site and tell you what it’s like.

I have been there several times but never stayed in the camp ground. You won't have any trouble getting in there and remember a 40ft motorhome is somewhat shorter than a 40ft trailer and a truck. I have found that my DP and toad both fit in a 40 ft spot usually. We stay in Pigeon Forge and drive the car everywhere, Cades is usually pretty crowded and not a lot to see unless you walk a lot

I can't help, but Cades Cove is on my visit list..... surprised no one has responded.
