Legalized weed in Colorado - impact on campgrounds

Obviously with the legalization of recreational weed in Colorado, will it be allowed to be used openly in state and federal campgrounds?

I personally don't care what consenting adults do behind their closed doors, but how will the laws be enforced within these campgrounds? I've booked a week at Ridgeway this summer and I don't want to have to worry about my family being impacted by a bunch of potential stoners camping around me. I highly doubt it will be a issue, but I just kinda want to know what to expect.

If alcohol is, then you can expect weed to be.

And I'm with the others.. way better than drunks. And who knows.. it may cut down on the drinking.

So, basically nobody knows about the legality in a state park? Being next to a campsite of loud rowdy drunks isn't appealing either

You need to study the History of the Prohibition Act of 1920 or better yet there are some excellent Documentaries that can be viewed (there is an excellent one on Netflix). The posts here sound like the same things that were said when Alcohol was about to be legalized after the Prohibition. I am sure NO one that has posted takes a little sip EVER! If you think you have never camped in a campground with someone that smokes pot you are greatly mistaken. Like Alcohol, whose consumption grew while the Prohibition Act was in place, the only way to control drugs is to legalize & TAX. The War on Drugs has been so successful (LOL) at spending money without results. And none of you smoke either, right! In case you are wondering, I/we do not smoke, drink, do drugs or f*rt. Well maybe fa*t. But for the record, I believe people have the right to do as they please as long as they don't harm others, better than sending kids to fight other peoples' Wars. AND I respect & support your right to disagree with me!

Not sure why anyone would think that since it's legal that all the sudden we are surrounded by stoners????? Are they going to go out , buy some weed and a camper at the same time and all the sudden start camping.. I think it will be business as usual... And for the record I am not a stoner but would rather camp next to one than a loud obnoxious drunk....

The State passed the new law but federal law still says any amount if marijuana is illegal...

Whole country will be stoned before long.

For medical use only and I cannot wait so that my wife can try it to see if it cuts down on the nerve pain from her spinal cord injury. It may also lessen the amount of Oxycontin she needs to ingest.
And 16 ounces is allowed in NYC.

I'll take the stoners any day.

(of course, neither would be preferable.)

Yep. Have to agree with both parts of this message. Adding more and more legal ways for people to "zone out" can't be good long term.

We plan on spending the majority of our time in CO & WA this year. Both lovely enlightened states to visit….:B

It's only in a few counties and not near the many campgrounds. 385 vendors applied for full license at $5500 each to grow, and sell with associated products. Many non users were reported trying it for the first time with lines backed up for blocks. Stock in the various public investment companies went high. Remember this is just a trial that can be voted down if things get out of hand as it's county controlled. It is also just for local residents in specific places with limits of quantity.

Put me in the column of preferring stoners to drunks. 🙂

But today, Washington Post had an article about most and least obesity rates per state. Colorado is currently the least obese but I'm wondering if legal weed will change that. :B

If the state passed a law legalizing weed then one has to assume there was a lot, and I mean alot, of public support. That being the case you have likely been camping next to stoners for years and just didn't know it.

Not as easy to detect from next door as booze consumption, unless you follow the trail of cookie crumbs left behind.
