We are planning on driving through Louisiana after staying on Galveston Island in early October. Haven't really picked a route yet, but since we've never camped in Louisiana, wanted to check it off the list.

I looked into Jimmie Davis SP and Poverty Point SP. Any other suggestions? Probably a 2 or 3 night stay, thanks.

The Only COE Park In Louisiana. Beaver Dam Nice Park Not Full Hookup But Very Nice.

Close To Shreveport Casinos.

Just An Idea... Have A Great Trip!

Looks nice, thanks.

I think we're going to head to Bogue Chitto for a few nights.

Thanks, maybe someday we will go there, looks pretty neat.I need to angle up northeast, as I have about 8 days to get back to Cleveland from Galveston.

Appreciate all the suggestions from everybody.

Poverty Point is one of Louisiana's newer state parks with full hookups. Not much shade as trees are young. It's a nice park though

We didn't stay at Poverty Point, but we drove thru it. It didn't impress us. We did stay at Jimmie Davis. And that was a nice park. We enjoyed our stay there.

Other nice parks would be: Lake D'Arbonne, Fountainbleau, Chicot, Palmetto Island, and Sam Houston Jones State Parks.

It depends on which way you will be crossing Louisiana. But I will mention a couple of the parks where we have stayed. These would be just off I-12, north of New Orleans and east of Baton Rouge:

Fairview/Riverside S.P.
Fountainleau S. P.

WE really liked Palmetto Island. Toured the Tabasco plant and emnoyed the entire area. Beautiful park when we were there. FWIW
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!
