Pigeon Forge area campgrounds

I once saw a campground from the road near Pigeon Forge, TN. It was on the side of a hill and I am sure the campground had a great view. Does anyone know what campground this is? I searched and could not find one that I thought was the one that I saw.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on a campground with a nice view in the North Carolina Mountains, let me know. I do not know if I will go this fall, but my wife wants to.

We stayed at Jellystone in Crosby, and Pine Mountain in Pigeon Forge.

Jellystone is not bad if you're up front, but the main area get's packed pretty good. The owner/staff are awesome! We went there with a rental TT before we bought the NT, and the sewer hose was far too short to reach the hole. So the owner snagged some hose/parts from the store and let us use it while we were there ๐Ÿ™‚

Pine Mountain was very nice, and nearly empty when we were there (beginning of February). The grounds looked well kept, and it was a bit quieter than I expected for being nearly right on the main drag.

We usually camp inside the Smoky Natl Park at ELKMONT with no hookups but sometimes will go to RIVERSEDGE RESORT just as you enter Pigeon Forge coming from the Gatlinburg Side.

This is a great campground and is very convenient to visit both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge places. Also close to do the trails and CADES COVE inside the Natl Park as well...

Management at RIVERSEDGE RESORT are super people...

We stayed a week at Foothills parkway rv park and cabins in june, it is a small family owned and ran CG, spotless clean and right on the east edge of PF, I didn't notice as much traffic noise as some of the other ones in PF, very nice pool and bathrooms, awesome folks to deal with.

Pine Mountain is IN Pigeon Forge, but on the Gatlinburg side. You are about 5 miles from Gatlinburg. It is a nice, but newer campground and the vegetation is still on the small side, but a great campground, nonetheless. It has a pool, and individual shower rooms, but are heated/cooled. There is an indoor pool as well as a lazy river pool and large hot tub that is available for use. It is NOT on the main parkway, but is a block back and is behind a knoll so that you don't get all the noise from the parkway.

It is by far our favorite campground in the area. There are others such as Riverside that seem to be a favorite, but it is on the other end of Pigeon Forge and I thought it was way over-priced and small, small sites.

You have to remember that you are going to a large touristy area, so sites will be small and there will be lots of them in a small area. Pine Mtn just fits our needs more than the others.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a campground near Gatlinburg, TN. That is close by Pigeon Forge. I have seen some on the internet, but it is hard to tell if the campground is nice, or just a place to park your camper.

Any help here will be welcome!

We like Mile High campground, it's on Heintooga ridge road about 11 miles or so up the Blue Ridge Parkway, call first because the park ran camp ground on up the road and the round bottom road are closed because of the sequester.

It has the best view of any campground in the Smokys.

this is from the last time we were there.

They fill up quickly in the fall because people want to go see the leaves. I really cant suggest one on the NC side, but I will tell you that Natural Tunnel SP in VA has some great views. You might want to give it a try.

That's on a hill for sure, very steep getting up that to the sites. We go there in the Winter to look at the lighted tunnel, and ride the chair lift.

That is done on the last Saturday of each month and then sometime in December. We are here camphosting for the month of August and a few trees are beginning to shed a little. It's been getting cool at night - down in the 50s, but great campfire weather.

Nice, secluded location, with interesting hiking trails. Not a typical cg, but a woodsy, quiet place.

I have been looking around. Can anyone tell me about Bear Den Campground near Spruce Pine, NC? It is just off of the parkway. I looks nice. I have not found anything yet with a really amazing view from the side of a hill.
