Place near The Maze portion of Canyonlands NP in Utah?

I'd like to do some day hiking in the Maze portion of the Canyonlands National Park next year. I tow a sturdy 4x4 that can take me into the park and I'd like to stay as close to the Hans Flat ranger station at the west entrance as possible.

I'm driving a 35 foot class A, so the quality of roads is a concern. I've found openings at the campground in Goblin Valley Sate Park off of UT 24, but I'd like something a bit closer.

I'm only looking for the information about camping with a Class A near the Mazes section of Canyonlands.

Can't help you with a specific boondocking location. Just wanted to reiterate the need to be prepared. Lots of water and food, extra spare, air pump, jacks, etc. And make sure your rig is ready for very rough terrain. Last time I was in there (years ago), we passed several jeeps with obvious fresh body damage. Running boards are just there to get torn off. Was no cell service anywhere. Definitely a remote part of the world.

I live even closer. The above poster is 200% correct. I have hiked Horseshoe Canyon several times. Goblin Valley State Park is the nearest and only improved area within miles of Hans Flat. The area is open to dispersal camping, but this is rough and remote country. Make sure you do your home work as if not prepared you are charged full price for rescue services. Seems to be an influx of unprepared people after some guy had to amputate his own are after getting caught I the rocks.

Well you are right , Goblin is in the wrong direction to the maze. Hite at Lake Powell is closer to the Maze,but your motor home has no place anywhere off the payment out there. .read up on the area and you will see, look up the Flint Trail and you will see.I live about 200 miles from the area you will love it. just remember it is remote and sevices are far between. just come on out and enjoy our back yard.

Your 4X4 should work. 35 foot Motorhome how bad do you want to abuse it?
Hans Flat ranger station looks to be 45 miles of dirt road from pavement.
