When was the flooding, a year and a half ago? Trying to recall.
Fixing that stretch had to be a super huge project.
They moved massive amounts of rock to relocate several areas of the roadway, moving it to a higher elevation away from the river. It's been closed through the winter for the past 2 years, creating some hardships for residents in the area as well as some of the businesses. But...by doing so, the timeline was shortened to completion in 2018 rather than 2020, had they used the more protracted timeline and kept the canyon open those 2 winters.
I'll get to see it first hand on Friday afternoon!
