Just a little note about some decent people and their commitment to follow through on a promise. We were touring the Va, NC, Ky area and had given thought to spending a night at Flag Rock Park just outside Norton, VA. In doing my research one of the things I look for is eateries. The more unique and local flavor the better. That lead me to the Woodbooger Grill. With a name like that we just had to try it. I mean who could pass up the chance for a WoodBooger Burger. They advertised a special eat the Woodbooger burger and fries in 20 minutes or less. Get a tee shirt. Woodbooger burger consists of two big burger patties, bacon, pork BBQ, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, cheese, and cheese sauce. This really intrigued me and I wanted to know more. No way could I eat that, even if I had all day, but wanted a tee shirt. After eating our simple meal I asked to have a tee shirt added to the bill.
The waitress returned and said they were out of them, but the owner would go to his home and bring some back if we were willing to wait. She offered free desserts and drinks, which we refused. We waited. She then returned a bit later and said that his was out, but was on his way to "The Store" to get some more. Sat there for about 45 minutes and getting fidgety because we knew we had a 3 1/2 hour drive ahead of us. Finally she came over and apologized profusely. With that I said we just had to leave, due to the drive ahead, etc. With that the owners wife also came over and they offered to mail us a tee shirt. Gave them my name and address. Sure why not. Left the waitress a very nice tip, if for nothing else her concern.
Well a week and a half later a package arrived with a tee shirt, and a very apologetic note written on the back of a Guest Ticket, bill, from the waitress.
Moral to the story: If you're ever near Norton, VA, stop by the Woodbooger Grill for some great food and some of the nicest, most honest people ever.
