The DS electrical panel storage area had very limited storage capacity due to the possibility of damaging the electronic panel. An easily removal back panel and shelf were added to protect the panel and add needed storage. No fasteners/tools are used to install/remove the shelf or back panel so removal is quick and easy for access to the electrical panel as needed. The techniques used can also be useful for other storage possibilities. The photos show assembly of the back panel and shelf starting with the empty locker.
This is the original locker and shows the support boards for the back panel and the shelf.
Installing the back panel
Install the shelf which has a snug fit which holds it and the back panel in place.
The shelf is tilted upwards for installation. The offset on the shelf lip was necessary to clear the door lock mechanism located on the inside of the storage door.
This is the completed project showing the shelf and back panel. The back panel protects the electronic board which contains fuses and components.
It's ready for storage.
