HELP! diy project gone bad

Hi, Im new to this forum. I just inherited a 2006 damon challenger motorhome from my dad. I have been working to make it my own. But my biggest project so far has gone bad and I need help.

I replaced the carpet with vinyl plank flooring. It looks great, but when I bring the slideout in/out it is marking the new floor. I called a local rv dealer and he told me that i was stupid for removing the carpet and the only way to fix it was to pull the slide completely out of the coach and add rollers to the underside. He said it would cost around 2 thousand dollars.

I was sick to my stomach. I called a guy who does mobile rv repairs. He laughed and said the other guy was full of... He claimed that the slide was adjustable and he could fix it. He came out and adjusted on the slide. since my coach was not sitting level and the leveling jacks are also broken we couldnt really test it. The next day I moved the rv to a level spot and tested. He did not fix the issue. Now I have a grove in my brand new floor due to the head of a screw holding the trim on the slide out. I had him come back to see what happened and now he says I need to add rollers to the underside of the slide. He claims the rollers should be no more than $100 and it would take him 3 hrs ($300 labor). After already paying him $175 just to fiddle with the adjustments im worried about paying him more and still not having a solution.

I have been considering fixing it myself and I have 2 ideas, but need advise before starting.

Idea 1: Rollers. All the rollers I find are an inch or more in diameter and I worry that will be too much. I did find some rollers that are designed to be countersunk into the wooden floor of the slide. But i would need to raise the slide to get them installed.

Idea 2: glue carpet to underside of slide. my issue he is what type of glue would hold

I am completely open to suggestions and any advice is appreciated. I am supposed to go to the beach in september so im kinda in a rush to get it done.

Thanks.

My bedroom slide roller (not the 2 for the bed box) requires slide removal or possibly extended extension, both are involved.

Also suggest placing a stainless plate on the bottom of the slide in the contact area. This can be done outside w/o removing the slide.

Wondering if you can install a roller upside down in the floor of the slideout?

Im not sure of your slide design but mine is sitting above the floor all the time. When it goes out on the 5 rollers that are attached to the fw floor it sits up so you step up a few inches. I tiled my floor and added reinforcements to the slide such as thin metal plates to the bottom of the slide because the rollers were pressing a groove into the cheap osb that the slide is made of. So at the inside edge of my slide i have bolts that had to stick down and can contact the floor tile. I use pieces of carpet under those areas as the slide comes in and tilts down.

My son tiled his floor but his slide is tge design that has plastic runners on the under side of the slide and they originally rode on the carpet as it came in. When his slide goes out it drops down so that it is flush with the rv floor. As he brings tge slide in he puts down carpet scrap for it to ride on.

I have damaged my tile by not positioning the carpet scraps correctly and not being careful. Its no big deal because i used the peel and stick tiles so individual pieces can be replaced as needed. Thats why I chose that style over snap together or sticky edge like most people choose

I found these:

look like they would only raise the slideout a 1/4 inch. But how do I install them w/o removing the slide?

My bedroom bed slide has 3 small adjustable rollers that might work for you, about 3/4" diameter. One is on one end between the slide and raised floor for the engine. The other side roller is much larger. The other 2 support the bed box which is a larger storage area under the foot area. All 3 are screwed to the floor. When I removed and repaired the bed box I didn't take a picture. With enough research related to Monaco hopefully you can find more information online.

I can't offer you any help in how to fix your problem but I can tell you that before you add rollers or whatever solution you try, you need to check the top of the slide to make sure it can be raised the needed amount without hitting or causing the seal to bind which would then create a leak issue on top of the problem you already have.
