RV roof air mod

RV roof air too loud? We got this AC thingy you can buy to quiet it down. Roof air not delivering air where you need it or cooling down unit quick enough? We got this widget you can buy to make it work a whole lot better. Can't run your AC on a 2000 watt genset, we got this electronic marvel you can buy. Now over $600 in accessory's.

Sure gives a warm fuzzy feeling about buying a new roof air. My last 11k one sounded like a shop vac, would not run dependably on small generator even with hard start kit. Was not ducted so air distribution was not perfect but not so bad as to do anything about.

Covid gave me a lot of time so I worked on a project I have tried before, works well but cannot call it a success yet, will take at least 1 year of operation to say that.

Not sure if I should call it the Frankenconditioner or the Covid 20?

I ran into some issues with it as I progressed, first 4 year old ac unit died, circuit board on replacement unit burnt out and was not available. So a couple weeks turned into a few months. It is mounted on the RV and I did get a couple hot days around 90 so am confident it will cool the little Toyota. Used the 8k unit for 4 years stuck out of the rear window. Big question is longevity.

It is an 8k window unit with a hardstart, runs off a Honda EU2000 with no issue. Can run in Eco mode and hardly notice when compressor starts.

Definitely not the ugliest Frankonditioner I’ve ever seen.

Honorable mention, though.

Interesting project! I find that I too have had too much time on my hand but my project is trying to use an older RV roof air on a backyard shed. Still working it out with some duct work also....????

I'd call it Frankconditioner.

Or Franconditioner.

too bad you have to wait a few months to see how well it works. "Necessity is the mother of all inventions" (or something like that). I thinks its pronounced Frunk in steen....(Young Frankenstein Movie).
