Just bought this 04 cougar travel trailer. Slide out is only working on battery. I disconnected the battery, plugged up to service and slide doesn't work. Is this supposed to be like this or not.Any suggestions on where to start looking for the issue would be helpful.

Too many variables to give correct answer. It depends on size of battery, age of battery, how many times it has been at 50 percent charge or less. The battery will quit operating the slide, before it is dead. It will still run some things, but moving a large slideout is a heavy draw. A questionable battery should be replaced.

No need to disconnect the battery. Leaving it connected while plugged in will keep it charged up.

Yes, that is normal, often times the converter alone will not have enough power to operate a slide. It normally takes a well charged battery.
