A new kind of 5er?

NPR doesn't really say so, but this thing really is a 5er and not a 'tiny house'!!

Hell, I'd love to demo the whole box on my Zeiman FW frame and build an entire new superstructure on it. Better frame than 95% of the ones out there now. ๐Ÿ™‚

It works for the owner.

I often wonder what happened to the frame of the trailer I lost in 2009 to a blowover, assuming that it was not twisted beyond use.

It had a set of Michelin XPS Ribs, with plenty of life, on it, a Trail Air pinbox with a new bladder for the heavy trailer, wet bolts, Trail Air center point spring hanger system, not much else left of it when towed away.

Might have been a great foundation for a DIYer.

Psshhht...*I* could build something that simple, and I am most definitely female. BUT - when I ponder the amount of time involved in wiring, plumbing, hanging drywall and finishing it, painting, etc etc etc.... I STILL think her money was better spent buying a used 5er. But if it's her "baby" and she doesn't expect to get compensated for her time and effort - then she should be proud!

Thanks for sharing this! Just a couple days ago I mentioned to my wife I thought it would be fun to get a trailer frame, like a double axle utility trailer with electric brakes, or something like that, get it registered as a utility trailer and then build a house on it. Why utility trailer? Because in Indiana pop-up are considered utility trailers and not RV's. Anyway, it would be an interesting and fun project. I've got the carpentry skills to do this. So, yea, this is a great post!

More than likely, I would think this lady would use the "home" similar to a park model. She could be planning on parking it on a lake or who knows where. On wheels, it can always be moved if you don't like the neighborhood any more! And no one says you have to tow it at 70 miles an hour down the interstate either. A s..l..o..w... tow and it can be moved easy enough, even if the roof has household asphalt shingles!

Also wonder why the slanted roof?

LOL
It does snow a bit in Idaho :B In the above average years you see guys clearing them of 3' of snow. I remember one year they had snow blowers clearing off the Walmart roof. Of course many don't and you'll see the collapsed structures.

Yeah - if she wants to move it like a RV, she probably will need help with those stairs.

In addition, I wonder if it is insure able, will be able to licensed and if it will hold up to travel.

If she doesn't want to move it,why bother with a FW frame?

I commend her for her effort.

I'd guess (like much of the rest of the "tiny house movement", she has no plans to move it, ever.

They are using the 400 sq ft regulation.

If not then why mount it on a frame.

Also wonder why the slanted roof?

Hey I again commend the lady - it's not something I would do.
