Alpenlite Electric Dump Valves

I just bought a 2006 Alpenlite Voyager and the first time I tried to dump the black water tank, the dump valve will not open. Is there a way to override the electric actuator? What is the permanent remedy? Replacement?

The OP most likley has another complication if identical to mine.

No separate dump hose to hook up everytimea dumping is required.

The dump hose is permanently hooked up & retracts inside a pipe which is inside the belly. Nice & neat but you need to get close to the dump to use it as the hose only extends about 8' from the storage compartment.

My life with a sticky valve is the same as Durb's. The Allen wrench is kept in the truck, where it is handy, & a tarp to put on the ground is also handy along with tape to reseal the belly.

The DW & I have gotten quite efficient at dealing with the sticky valve. We are faster at the dump than most who have to do the get the hose out routine.

Add an (accessible from the exterior) manual valve, and leave that PITA electric valve open!....:W

I have a 2008 Carriage with electric dump valves. The black tank valve sticks every single trip. Fortunately my trailer has a zippered access to the valves. I've become expert with my 1/8" allen wrench to free the valve for dumping. A flashlight s required. The good news is once freed they work fine until the next rip. I keep a piece of cardboard to slide underneath on as the ground is usually wet here in the Northwest.

If it does you can see the valve on the right side from above, barely, but the only way to reach it is to cut the belly material.

If they are drainmaster valves make sure the switches aren't the magnetic switches they originally came with, if so call them and tell them to send you the new ones that work! I've replaced mine three times and due to the way my tanks are installed i'm stuck with them! To make life a little simpler I cut a small acsess hole that I can open up to get to manually open the P.O.S valve when It locks up other than that you should replace them with manual valves as they will never get better, good luck!

Also, I would first check to see if the fuse blew.

Are your valves made by DrainMaster? If so, they have a manual override. Their valves either require a screwdriver (older valves) or an allen wrench. If they are the older valves you can easily strip the screw head. You will have to remove the underbelly to gain access to the valve. You will also need a flashlight to see which direction to turn the manual override because it's hard to read the imprint in normal light.

AH HA! Welcome to the club. Welcome on 2 counts. Congratulations on the Alpenlite Voyager. Also welcome to the sticky valve club.

I also have a Voyager. One of the last. Built Dec 07.

Been there, dealt with that as far as the valve goes. To explain it all would take a book worth of typing. PM me with a phone # & I can give you the bad news & good news. I have a 4 hour time difference from you so maybe tomorrow.
