Just returned from Lost Dutchman... perfect. Can hardly wait for the next trip. so... what did I learn/relearn this time ???- got two of the big mamma-jamma propane tanks on my rig...first time I needed to refill... holy cow ! bring your weight-liftertruss and cinch it up tight ! One of you engineer types needs to invent a quick release t-bar system for the dual tanks..mine requires total disassembly and then sequential reassembly... the slam-latch doors are "just" big enough.... a blivit ! 10 lbs in a 5 lb sack... I wish my bride was beefier so she could do the heavy lifting. Good thing this is only a once a season session. Sheesh...I may go back to smaller tanks ! - those moving from travel trailers to 5'vers... don't be like me...I was diggin' around in the under-neath storage... popped out, thoughtI needed to get to the other side of the rig... my brain (or lack of one) thought I still had my TT... did a face plant right into the side of over hang, spilt my beer, saw floaters for a bit ! did I mention spilt my beer. Won't do that again... (I hope).-a rear stabilizer lesson... getting ready to hook up to leave ...thought I'd raise the pin a bit to approximate the hitch receiver.... raised the front of the 5ver about 4" then remembered I still had the rear stabilizers down ... went to the back of the rig,tried to electrically raise the stabilers... would not work....hmmm,got the manual crank bar out... nothing...hmmm.... went back to front of the rig lowered the nose .... went to the rear....electrically raised the rear stabilizers... and all was good. Don't be like me.there are more... but I come out looking bad in the end , so I'll cherish those (privately). all in all, a perfect weekend. Charles

Hey Charles; makes me feel better to know others walk into the over hang! I have had several FWs, but still like to hit my head on that over hang, just to see if it still hurts. Ya, it does!When we get old, ya have to have a list, like now it is time to put the rear jacks up. Welcome to old and forgetful! Don't waste that beer, it goes empty fast enough, when drinking!!At least you are still enjoying some great camping! I am winterized.Jerry

Yep guys ! no point in cryin; over spilt beer... hehehehe !Man, I love gettin' out there ... anywhere. This campsite hadan "informal" group of vintage rigs... teardrops, Airstreams, Shastas... some towed by vintage vehicles (saw a sweet Bel-Air). All the owners I talked with were having a good time. My buddy took his maiden voyage with his 07' TrailManor.... wow...those rigs have some amazing engineering. Yep, lots of laughs... good times. Got to watch two spectacular sunsets and sunrises... coffee/Baileys and sunrise...highly recommend.Wrights smoked bacon in the fry pan...Thomas' English muffinsfor bacon sandwich...mercy. Sorry you had to winterize.p.s. my son calls it O.P.S. ....old people syndrome. (a sign of poor parenting ! Ha ! ). Charles

Practically neighbors... I'm in a burb of Phoenix (on the
Maricopa side) called Chandler... so probably 10-15 miles.
Maricopa was a "cut-thru" for us heading to California
via Yuma (saved 30-40 mins.) but they built up so quickly
(during the boom) that now it is stop-light central... so
it is a wash just whether to take the cut-off or I-10 to
I-8.

My Canadian / Irish clan is from Finch, Ontario...how close
are you ? (real farmers BTW). We tent camped in the region
as a boy. Lots 'o skeeters in the summer...they would hold
squadron formations on any exposed skin... Dad would feed us
Cod Liver oil to "ward off anemia"... I think they found that
stuff was toxic ! Between that and onion poultices it is no
wonder I can't eat Liver and onions...it's like taking medicine !

I too can factoid and geek out with the best of em'.... but the
most important stuff is found when you get "out there"....

I mentioned (in casual conversation) the term "China Bomb" to my bride...
she gave me the mal de ojo and said..."you know, that sounds kind of racist"....
I quietly went back to doing things that most here (reasonable Rv'ers) avoid doing....".
Someday we'll have to compare.."did I do that" lists.

Charles, you give me hope for the future. I'm new to the game and follow this forum constantly but was beginning to think that all RVers ever did was complain about Chinese Tires. Maybe I will see ya on the road sometime and share a laugh -I have more than a few stories I could tell on myself. Thanks again.

In my world, the best thing about Rv'ing is the laughter.

Take fer' instance... wife wanted to go for a walk on one of the

gravel trails... for some reason, I opted to wear my shower slaps

(3 microns thick !), she said "no/no/no", I said, "I'll be fine"...

5 minutes into the walk I was beggin' her to give me a piggy-back

ride back to the 5ver... she said "no/no/no". Met other Rv'ers on the

trail... much humor at my expense. I provided a sound track that

caused me to turn in my man card by the time I made it back to the

rig. Can't make this stuff up.
