Cougar X-lite

We are stuck and can't decide. We have not seen one in person but in paper the Keystone Cougar X-lite line seem great. Ok tank size 42 fresh, 60 gray, 30 black on all. We want to eventually full-time and boondock and are having a hard time finding a light enough trailer without being too long and one that has 'enough' CCC.

We would be pulling it with a 2016 Ram 2500 6.4 with 12,600lb towing capacity and a CCC of 2850lbs.

We don't have a 5th wheel hitch so an auto slider will have to be purchased as well.

We like the following:

25RES with 2965lb CCC, 28'11" all with a 10000lb GVWR
28RDB with 2315lb CCC, 32'11"
28SGS with 2439lb CCC, 30'10"

No makes things more difficult we love the Grand Design Imagine line TT's, specifically the 2950RL. We have spent time inside that one and find it to be a high quality until with lots of features.

2550RL with 1872lb CCC (yellow tag verified), 33'8" 8995lb GVWR

I don't know what to do. It will be easier buying the TT as the dealer Campers Inn is 90 min away and they have 3-4 of them in stock. We love the layout and it has better tank sizes at 52 fresh, 71 gray and 39 black. The X-lite dealer Petes RV is 3+ hours away and said they are in the warehouse which means not in Vermont but in their other location in Indiana and will take at least a week to get and I haven't seen one.

We were approved for an unspecified vehicle loan (38K) through our credit union already but have a 2011 Jayco Jayflight 29QBH that we will need to trade out of and a bill of sale to complete the loan process. Of course we are upside down in it according to Camping World who gave us a quote over the phone for a X-lite 28SGS that they had in stock.

Any ideas??

As you know, only you can make this decision, but here are my thoughts. I have a Cougar 5er (not X-lite) and have had an X-lite TT. If you are planning to go Full Time or extended stay, I would go with the Grand Design TT. IMHO, the X-Lite line is designed for those that have marginal TVs and only go out a few times a year. When DW retires, we are going to go extended stay. I plan to get a Grand Design or Lankmark 365. Our Cougar has been great with zero problems, but I don't know how well it will hold up for extended stay.

5th Wheel length is a real issue with me as well. We generally like the New York State Parks and prefer 35' or less. They are getting harder to find.

Thank you your opinion. I don't know anyone that owns one and did not realize that. I know that's Grand Design mentions extended stay right on their product info.

Go to the Grand Design website. Click on "Why GDRV" then click "Full Timing". You will see extended stay info.
