Disc Brake Conversion-Complete

Swapped out my electric system for the Titan 13" Hydraulic Disc Kit on my Redwood Fifth Wheel ... the kit was right around $1800.00 and contained everything needed to do the install..

I now have a couple tows on the system and WOW ! ! ! What a difference.. It is truly is amazing just how great the system operates...

I purchased the kit from Ron Russell at Performance Trailer Braking...
and I had The Trailer Shoppe , in Leola PA do the install as I just did not have the time to do it now... If anyone is in the Eastern part of PA or even close , this place is fantastic!!!!!

Leon,

There are several possibilities. I am with Performance Trailer Braking and install 100+ of the Titan System a year. Call me at 405-626-7009 if you still have a problem.

It ended up being a bad caliper, they replaced it for me and the system works great now, night and day difference from drum brakes.

Thanks for your offer to help!

Not that I am aware of... Cal Ron at the number above , he will tell you exactly what you need... You can than go in the Titan website and look at what it is...
Trust me , it will be the single best upgrade you can do.... !

Disks are wonderful! I have the factory disk on my Redwood (Kodiak/Carlisle). The dealer didn't even know they were available and was shocked when I pointed out the actuator in the cabinet on one of his inventory units.

I bought a complete Titan kit for my two axle trailer, it locks up great when I pull the emergency safety brake. 3 out the 4 tires spin freely when the brake is off but one if very stiff, i can turn it with two hands and lots of force. I pulled everything apart and it floats well on the two studs, no binding. I pulled the caliper off and pulled the emergency brake to make the piston come out 1/2", then I used a c-clamp to push it back in, it was super tight. It is brand new so no rust, no marks, nothing visible to keep it from moving easily. When I reassembled it improved to my two handed turn, before this it was extremely hard to move. It is still harder to move than the others. I took it on a mile test drive and 3 discs were 130* and the 4th was 170*, so obviously I still have a problem. I have contacted the store I bought it at and requested a replacement caliper. Just thought I would check here if there is something I overlooked.

Thanks

Leon

Just out of curiosity. Is your 350 an SRW or DRW? I have a 2015 F350 SRW and will be looking for a new rig soon. Wondering if I should have taken it to the next step with the DRW.

Does not make them good!

Per Kevin at Kodiak. "If you want the best pad for the disk brake application buy NAPA's BEST OE SemiMetallic pads."

I removed the Kodiak pads from my mew 16 MobileSuites and installed the NAPA pads recently and they do make a difference. Kevin said they only sold OK and Good pads because people won't spend the money on quality.

The pads for the Titan & Kodiak 250cc Caliper fits all 7k, 7.2k & 8k axles and is a MKD-215 automotive pad available at any parts house.
There are different grades so talk to your parts house about upgrading the pad quality.

Disc's were the best mod I made on my camper.

I'm on a cross country trip right now and seeing those down 6%-8% grade signs used to scare the **** out of me with the old drum set up. Now I look forward to them, can you believe it.

My name is Ron Russell, with Performance Trailer Braking. The only reason to bleed a 2nd time is if you are not confident you got all the air out the 1st time. I would not bleed a 2nd time unless you start feeling some loss of braking power. Remember disc brakes should fell the same every time so you will develop a sense if something is not right.
send me your email and I will send you the Brakerite manual.
