Need to replace tires on my 38' fifthwheel that weighs 18,000 lbs
Tires that came with rig are five ply
I got a great deal on 12 ply tires
Any reason for not upgrading to 12 ply tires?

Load range B tires are severely underrated for that coach. Does it actually say 'ply' on the tire?

Go by load range now.

Going with 14 ply

I don't believe that radial tires actually would have 14, 10, or even 8 "plies". Plies have pretty much not been a real thing since bias ply tires bit the dust mostly. IMO it is probably more important to go by weight and carrying capacity. But that's JMO.

I'm very happy with my "G" rated Sailun tires. 5 years, and about 20,000 miles with no issues and they still look good.

I was thinking G tires are 14 ply. If I am wrong somebody let me know.

I upgraded to G rated tires and have a lot more confidence in making it to a campsite without calling roadside assistance!

Sailun G-rated tires seem to be the current gold-standard for heavy rigs. MUCH cheaper than the Goodyears. Not the only ones, but very popular, with a good track record. Just need to have 110 psi-rated wheels.
