Fresh water tank filling

I've had My 2015 prime time for just under a year. I'm at a full service park. Yesterday I hooked up to city water, everything seemed to be fine, pressure was about 38#. By evening my fresh water tank filled for no apparent reason and was overflowing. Anybody know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? The only why the tank is supposed to fill is with a hose through the filler cap.

Dirt in the valve? Should we put some sort of filter on then to stop that?

EDIT: Never mind, I answered my own stupid question 🙂 :S

Do you have a "city water to fill the tank valve"? It might be open.
Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

Thanks again everyone for all your help. I think I've got it figured out now.

It's usually part of the pump and most pumps have a rebuild kit available.

Thanks for your help.
I'm guessing this valve is part of the pump or is mounted near the pump?

Sure sounds like the valve is not stopping the back flow of water, when you run your pump it takes water from the tank, but if hooked up to city water then the pressure should keep the valve pulling from tank closed, so your water pressure is over powering it and filling the tank.
