How to figure pin weight?

Just picked up a 1997, 27-5J Wilderness. Anyone know where I can get the pin weight on these trailers? Nothing on the data plate or in the paperwork the previous owner had. Trying to figure out the best truck suspension I need to tow it safely.

Thanks

According to NADA your trailer weighs 7300 lbs. 20% of 7300 is 1460 lbs for the pin. If you add 1500 lbs for gear you might expect to put another 300 lbs on the pin.....therefor total pin weight should be close to 1760 lbs.
  • It sounds like you don't have the truck yet. If you know the weight of the trailer figure 20% of that for pin weight to get in the balpark.
  • CAT scale on I-95 across the Susquehanna River from you. Pilot Travel Center at Hwy 222.

  • Go to a scale. Weigh the truck first, no trailer. Hookup and weigh again. the difference is the pin weight.
Steer axle, drive axle and trailer axle on separate scale pads.
