Need help finding Sailun tires for my 5th wheel

Hello all,

It's come time for me to replace the 11 year old original Goodyear G614 RST LT235/85R16 Load range G tires on our triple axle 2008 Teton trailer. They still look great but know I am past the date code (3307) expiration time. I have done alot of reading here and other forums and decided to go with the Sailun S637 as my replacement. I'm staying with the factory 16" rims but having a difficult time finding the exact LT235/85R16 size.

Can anyone point me to a suggestion where to look for best prices?

Thanks!

NOT since early 07. Since they have a stellar record.

Sailun has a good record but I will stick with GY for my RV tires.

Thats the great thing about having a choice, and not having to pay those outrageous prices those Goodyear tires are getting. There was a day those G614's were about the only game in town, not anymore .

I think we could argue the stellar part of your reply, we still keep hearing on occasion a G614 failure, but yet to read any about the Sailun. I will give you that the Goodyear has improved ,but along with that the prices went thru the roof .

Have said that many times, big reason I switched from the GY to the Sailun. IMO it does not make sense to pay almost double for a GY tire which is arguably an inferior tire to the Sailun.

Thanks to all for the comments and advice. I ordered 6 news Sailun 235/80R16's yesterday and will give them a try, will let everyone know how they work out as time goes.

I really wanted to order the 235/85R16's but with only the 33" wheelbase on the axles I decided to go with the shorter 235/80^16's. But even the shorter Sailuns still have a greater carrying capacity than the GY's

I respect those who have resolved to buy American and I desperately wanted to stick with the GY's since the original set lasted 11 years....but the Sailuns were half the cost and getting super reviews and I live on limited resources and have to choose where to save money like most.

Thanks,
Phil

Mine are going on two years now and look like they haven't worn at all. Great tire.

I have Goodyear G614s on my 5vr........OEM tires
At 3 1/2 yrs had blowout that did $3500 damage to 5vr.
Goodyear DID cover the damage costs and new tire....but it cost me Hotel Room 3 days as we were FTng while 5vr in factory for repairs.

Did replace those with another set of Goodyears because they did pay for the damages AND not much else was available in that size and load rating at the time.

NOW>>>>>>>

I am going to give the Sailun S637 a try next set of tires.

'G' Rated alternative 16" tire vs Goodyear

4,080# Max Load Rating at 110 psi (Goodyear G614s---3750#/110 psi)

Good reviews............and lower price point

SimpleTire has them listed for $148.50 each and says Free Shipping: SimpleTire

I got mine from them several years ago and was very happy with them.
Here is a good YouTube video on the Sailun's. Most likely a set in my near future. Today, they are listed at 133.99 with free shipping.

Although I'll note that the Westlake tires on my Reflection 303RLS have maintained 80 psi while in storage. Brought it home on Saturday, went to fill the tires yesterday - filled the compressor and started checking pressure. Didn't need to top them off.

Guess that should mean GY Marathons are now "stellar" also?

BTW - your mfg in china comment.
The Chinese are very capable of mfg *quality* products to/for the desired specs - whether it's TVs (televisions) or tires.

Michelin has tire mfg facilities in China.

I'll pass on GY, but *good* they ring (stick with?) your chimes!
