Propane regulator making noise

Recently I have noticed when I am using the furnace in the RV I am hearing a fairly loud noise comin from the propane regulator. For lack of a better description it sound like a rattle.

My Rv is a 2015. Is it time to replace the regulator already or is this a normal thing.

The other night I could hear it in the bedroom.

I believe you will be much happier with the operation of the Cavagna.
At least it is quiet, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I replace mine with the cavagna 924. I love it. My old one was mounted on the side of the bin and I could not tell when the red flag came up without removing the tank. I could not move it due to the size of the bottle and compartment. The cavagna solved that problem.

Thanks for the replies.

Gasman6674, No problem, and I agree with the getting older part! It seems I used to get more done everyday.

Gasman6674, The tanks pictured DO have OPD valves, I'm using the internal threads for connection.

The RegO 7525 series is a twin stage regulator. the change over head is the first stage (tank to 10psi) and the second regulator is the low pressure (10 psi to 11"wc) The unit carries a 10 year warranty. PS be aware the tanks shown in the picture are no longer "legal" all DOT bottle up to 40# require a OPD valve and all OPD valve have both internal POL and external QCC connections So you can continue to use POL pigtails thou I would recommend excess flow style connections. No, it wonโ€™t. Thatโ€™s what the excess flow check valve does that is part of the new style pigtails with the green Acme nut. It prevents unrestricted flow of LP in case the hose is broken. The OPD only prevents overfilling the cylinder. The thermal bushing in the Acme nut, when it melts in a fire, allows the pigtail fitting to back out of the valve on the cylinder (itโ€™s spring loaded) closing off the flow.

The reason I asked is because it was my understanding that a dual stage regulator was required on RVโ€™s. Yours may very well be. Like I said, Iโ€™m not familiar with that brand. But, whatโ€™s OK to do on stationary LP systems (like on a mobile home) isnโ€™t always OK for an RV system. If the green Acme nut (200,000 btu) was not allowing enough LP to flow for you, you could switch to pigtails with a red Acme nut, which can flow up to 400,000 btu.

The OPD in the cylinder and the excess flow check valve in the pigtails that have the Acme nut are not the same thing. They protect you from two different hazards. The Acme nut also includes a thermal bushing that melts in the presence of fire, and will disconnect the pigtails from the valves.

Iโ€™m not familiar with that brand of regulator. Is it two stage?

Hopefully this is a pic that will zoom. The hose connections are just old fashioned style full flow connectors. I rely on the OPD valve overflow protection instead of having another overflow protection valve in the new style hoses.

I believe the ACME nut is designed to melt in a fire to disengage the pigtail and close the valve to stop further propane release.

Wow thats nice. Is that the 7525? Im looking them up online. On my laptop im clicking your picture but cant seem to zoom.

Never seen anyone run the reverse thread like you. Is the idea similar metal will be better than the plastic Acme? Or is the inside diameter of that hose larger? Or both?

edit: oh wait its the inside diameter of the connectors that are larger? Recently got some high flow air compressor fittings. Something new and fun to play with.

I replaced mine with a commercial grade Rego unit and full flow fittings. Extremely reliable.

Good luck.

I would take the Cavagna over that Marshall any day. Much easier to read and no guesswork.
