Hello fellow campers. Just recently I have purchased a 2020 Silverado 2500 standard short bed without the puck system, I am quickly learning that was a wrong decision, not having the puck system, not the Chevy part. During the conversations with the dealer, one of the stipulations that I required was them to install my current PullRite #4100 SuperGlide Traditional hitch from the 2017 Chevy to the 2020 Chevy, That was the beginning of March. Now we are in May and the campgrounds are going to open back up and I still don't have my hitch installed. So I am asking for some help or reviews on my options.
Option 1 is to install my current SuperGlide hitch in this new truck with a standard rail system and adaptor mounts, since the clean bed technology is not an option any longer for the new model Chevy truck. This would give me the comfort and security of the slider hitch and not having any problems making corners, but the question on the adaptor mount is my concern. This adaptor mount that I have to purchase is where I have my concerns. How good is this? Has anyone used one of these? Does it have any negative feedback?
Option 2 is to purchase a new standard hitch that is not a slider and install the rail system without the adaptor mount. This option seems the most durable and safe, but my concern with this option is will my 2014 Elkridge Ultra be able to make tight turns without any problems? Will I hit my back window if I turn a tight corner? I talked with a Technician at our local RV dealer and he was certain that a standard hitch would be ok and I don't need a slider. I tried talking to the salesman, but he had no idea how to answer. I talked with the parts department and the person working had no idea.
That's why I am reaching out to the group. Has anyone purchased a 2020 Chevy and does anyone have PullRite hitch installed? If not, what are your thoughts? Does anyone purchase slider hitches any longer for a standard 6'5' bed length? Just looking for any help.
Thank you for your time.
