Question about slides

We have yet to buy our fiver, and have never had an RV with slides. Is there a problem with wind,water, or "critters" coming in through the slide openings. We will soon be selling the house and fulltiming in the one we choose. I am just not informed about slides, since it has been a few years since we owned trailers, and slides were not around then. Any "tips" about them are appreciated.

all slides have seals to prevent water, critter intrusion.
If the wind is so severe we feel concerned we retract them it only takes the push of a button.
We are fulltimers. started out with no slideouts. Two years later we bought one with slides.

it will be smaller with out a slide or two or 3 or 4 but we have done just great with 2 slides for 6 months or more each winter.

it would be alot tighter without slides.
