Reports are that Evegreen RV the builder of the Amped, Reactor & Tesla Toy Haulers is about to shut down. Read the story here

Unless a buyer steps up and keeps things running this would end factory support and warranty for current owners and future buyers of orphaned RVs.

Just a heads up to be aware.

I hear you. Some days I purposely don't scroll past a certain point on my favorite news site so I don't see what the market is doing that day... LOL. I agree too that I might take the risk if the price was good enough. It would have to be really good though! At a certain point of saving money, you can buy or have built anything that is obsolete.

I guess it boils down to what is a acceptable risk to each person. I guess I'm a gambler I invest in the stock market and that scares me more then a orphan TH. It's a moot point for me anyway since I'm not in the market for a TH.

I'd look deep into whether an extended warranty would work on a discontinued line without the factory first year or two in place. Not saying they wouldn't take the contract but they might not. It's a pretty rare situation. As to rolling the dice, I've bought just as many new rigs and needed the warranty heavily in the first month or two of ownership on two of them. One even had to go back to the factory as it was too big of a issue to be handled at the dealer level. Where would I be if there was no factory? And as DB said, not everything can be replaced generically. Refers and AC's, sure. Parts that were built at the factory for your rig would be a bit more difficult.

Realize the 369RL isn't a toy hauler, but the same applies.

Buying an orphan at a great discount was something that I had thought about as we are in the market and did like the Bay Hill 369RL...a lot. There are multiple outlets for extended warranties out there that would cover most of what might break or crack or... Also, many of the main components have their own warranties if they break. However, the biggie is "no parts"! What happens if, God forbid, you come across an angry oak tree in a campground that runs out and crushes the front fiberglass cap? The new one is going to have to be custom built and that will be expensive,:E IF you could find someone to do it. The second thing would be resale when you decided to sell it: terrible. We are now looking at other manufacturers for the FW in our future

It would if you had a major issue with no warranty support.
You could get the dealer to through in a extended warranty as a condition of the sell. If I could get it for a good price I would roll the dice. I have bought 5 new RV'S and did not need the warranty on any of them. I have had small problems that I fixed myself but nothing that would merit a return to the dealer.

After a year or two the warranty is gone anyway.

We were looking at the Bay Hill 369RL and had almost pulled the trigger about a month ago; decided to wait till next year to upgrade to a 5th wheel. REALLY, REALLY glad we decided to wait. :B I had not looked at their other units, only the BH and found that they were well built and had a lot of nice extras. I hope someone buys them and starts the manufacturing back up. Could buy an orphan I guess to go with our Pontiac, or the Olds we had before that...maybe it's me...:h

They were running flat and from what I hear and their major investor pulled out 2 months ago. It was only a matter of time.

Yeah the owners that just bought one are the ones I feel for, we all know a new unit needs a few things, but those folks will get nothing.

A lot of used units out there, but a lot of owners are upside down on them and can't easily get out from under them. The new units seem to be moving from what I see on my drive by visuals. The reports are that sales have rebounded pretty solid. Even Evergreen was having good sales, but sounds like they were not making money on those sales.

That's some tough news for owners. The employees will find jobs as the market is booming. The owners looking for warranty will really be getting shafted. I considered Tesla before my XLR. Scary thought.
