I just purchased a 2012 Heartland Big Horn 3585RL. I am wanting to install a washer and dryer in it. I am looking for advice on which brand is most recommended.

We have a Splendide 2100XC and we would not be without it. That said, if we had the room, we would have a separate washer and dryer instead of the combo. Using a combo unit has a learning curve. You can only wash or dry one load at a time vs being able to wash one load while you are drying another load if you have separate units instead of a combo.

You definitely want a vented unit, and if you have a 50A system get a 220V dryer.

Except if you happen to stay in a 30 amp only park with a 50-30 adapter, you can't use the 220v dryer.

We have had a Splendide vented combo for 9 years and still works great.

Read my post just above. There is a reason I have a commercial Gen other than to use my dryer boon docking. It is also used to dry my clothes in a 30A park. 15 minutes will dry most loads.

While I agree that they are great machines, I doubt that they are specifically designed in Italy for RV use.

Quote from http://www.splendide.com/about.htm:

With over two decades of experience in the design and application of combination washer-dryers for the North American market, Splendide has outsold all other brands since pioneering the space-saving concept in 1984.

Located in Clackamas, Oregon, Splendide's parent company, Westland Sales ยป, is a highly recognized, financially stable corporation that has supplied quality compact appliances to the RV & Marine industries for over 3 decades.

We have Whirlpools installed in our fiver. Dryer is vented and only takes an hour to dry the clothes on 120v. The dealer said the washer has a larger capacity than Splendid. We've been real happy with the load size, quietness, cleaning ability and how well the washer removes water from the clothes in its final spin.

I agree with cummings12V, it takes an awful lot of quarters to buy your washer dryer, couple that with the storage space you have to give up, it is a no brainier!

220V is the way to go. But if getting a new RV and a gen be sure to get the Commercial gen or you won't be able to use your dryer with the gen. I thank Chris Bryant for mentioning the regular gen's don't have 220v, they are single leg.

One year fulltiming on these and so far so good!

Splendide are the most common RV washers and dryers, but if you check some of the big box stores you can find Apartment size units that might work for less money.
